The coronavirus has now killed almost 346,000 people in this country
and now a man in florida has the new strain first seen in England.
Florida health authorities say the new virus variant was detected in a man in his 20s in Martin county
just north of palm beach. 
He had no recent travel history suggesting community spread. 
This new variant first seen in England is believed to be more contagious than the original strain of covid19
It was also discovered this week in Colorado and California.
Top experts say it's already probably spreading throughout the United States.

The new congress will be sworn in on january 3rd
but at the moment republican senators in the current session of congress are ignoring president Trump's demand 
to increase kovid 19 checks to 2 thousand dollars
They're also poised to override his veto of the defense bill.
The stalemates expected to drag into the weekend though wall street closed the year for stocks with record highs

in a day not reflective of the turbulent year 
the s&p, dow and the nasdaq wavered between small gains and losses most of the day
before all finishing the trading session in positive territory
 
the s&p gained 24 to a record 3756 finishing up more than 16 percent for the year 
the nasdaq composite added 18 to 1288 powered by high-flying big tech stocks 
it soared 43.6 for the year and the dow added 197 points on the day closing at a new record of 30,606
the blue chip index finished 2020 with a 7.2 percent gain apple and microsoft leading the way

but the numbers still historically high 787 thousand.
